Required CE Hours for Renewal
Producers
- Life, Accident and Sickness, Casualty, Property, and Personal lines
- Must complete at least 24 credit hours of approved continuing education per biennial compliance period based on your expiration date. Three of the 24 hours must be in ethics.
Adjusters
- Resident/Non-Resident
- 24 hours of general education, including 3 hours in ethics, every two years based on adjuster birth month.
- Adjusters with a workers’ compensation line of authority are encouraged to take at least 3 hours of continuing education courses related specifically to the adjustment of workers’ compensation claims.

Annuity Training
- Effective July 1, 2011, all active, veteran producers that sell, solicit or negotiate annuities must complete a one-time Annuity training course of no less than four (4) hours prior to December 31, 2011. In addition, if a producer is newly licensed (after July 1, 2011) they must complete the one-time training immediately, prior to selling annuity products.

Long-Term Care Training
- Initial Training
- Complete a one-time Long-Term Care training course of no less than 8 hours prior to July 1, 2010. In addition, if a producer is newly licensed (after July 1, 2009) they must complete the one-time training immediately, prior to selling any Long-Term Care products.
- Ongoing Training
- Producers continue to receive ongoing training of no less than 4 hours in each mandatory continuing education biennium subsequent to the biennium in which the one-time training was completed.

Exemptions
- Non-Resident
- Non-residents are exempt if their state has a mandatory continuing education law.
- Only Credit, Surety, Travel, Title, Crop and Car Rentalor
- Insurance producers licensed for only credit, surety, travel, title, crop and car rentalor any combination of these lines are not required to complete continuing education; however, the license must still be renewed every two years.

Final Exam
- Final exams MUST be monitored by a disinterested third party.
- The final exam is closed book.
- Must answer at least 70% of the questions correct to pass.

Certificate of Completion
To get your certificate of completion, log in to our website using your username and password. Then, look at the menu on the left and find "Course History." Your course history will list the courses you passed or failed. If you passed a course, you'll see a "Print certificate" button on the right, allowing you to print your certificate for your records.

How are Hours Reported
We report your credits through Sircon, a state-approved third party vendor, within one business day (except holidays, reporting will be done on next business day). The department receives the credits from Sircon and recognizes the date you passed/completed the exam as the date of completion. It is not based upon the day we report the hours to them.

Courses may not be taken more than once in each renewal period.

Carry-over Hours
Up to 6 hours of continuing education over the minimum requirement taken for a reporting period may be carried over to the next biennium. Ethics hours may be carried forward as general credits; however, they cannot be carried over as Ethics hours.
