WA Insurance Continuing Education Requirements

• Individual Producers (Life, Disability, Property, Casualty or Personal lines)

  • Complete a minimum of 24 continuing education (CE) credit hours (for your license type) during each license term. Licensees must also complete 3 hours of ethics CE training every license term as a part of the requirements.

• Resident & Non-Resident Individual Adjusters

  • If claiming Washington as their designated home state, complete a minimum of 24 continuing education (CE) credit hours (for your license type) during each license term. Licensees must also complete 3 hours of ethics CE training every license term as a part of the requirements.

For resident broker-agents, these special training requirements shall be part of, and not in addition to, the continuing education requirement.

• Ethics Training

  • Agents wishing to sell Long Term Care are required to take a one time only 8 hour Department of Insurance certified course

• Annuity Training

  • A producer who engages in the sale of annuity products shall complete a one-time 4-hour Annuity Suitability & Best Interest credit training course approved by the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner.

• Long Term Care Training

  • A producer who engages in the sale of Long Term Care products shall complete an initial 8-hour LTC credit training course approved by the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner. (If necessary) In addition, the producer must complete 4-hour credit training course each renewal period thereafter.

• Flood Insurance Training

  • Insurance producers who sell flood insurance must complete a one-time, 3-hour credit training course on the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

• CE waivers can be issued for military-activation or medical reasons.

• The Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) issues insurance licenses for two-year terms on the last day of the licensed agents birth date.

• FastrackCE courses are approved and categorized as online self-directed or online self-study.

• The Final Exam is open book and does not require a monitor/proctor. You may refer to the Course Material as often as you need to complete the exam.
• You must receive a score of 70% or better to pass the exam.
• You will be given the opportunity to retake the exam if a passing score is not received.

Certificates of completion are available immediately after passing your exam by logging into your account and navigating to your Course History.

• FastrackCE reports your credits the next business day to Sircon (except holidays, reporting will be done on next business day).

• Courses can only be repeated for continuing education credit if the completion dates are in a different license term.

• In Washington, excess continuing education (CE) credit hours cannot be carried over to the next renewal period.
