Required CE Hours for Renewal
Insurance Producers, Public Adjusters, and Title Agents
- Must complete 24 hours of CE credits prior to the expiration date of their current license;
- Insurance Producers and Resident Public Adjusters
- All insurance producers that will renew their existing license on or after June 4, 2003 will be required to complete 24 hours of continuing education.
- For any insurance producer that is in their initial or second biennial license cycle and was required to complete 48 hours, Act 147 reduces this requirement as of June 4, 2003 to a 24 hour requirement per biennial license cycle.
New or Renewal Title Agent
- Must complete 24 credit hours needed to renew a license for each 24-month period. The license period begins from the date of issue.
- If you are an attorney as well as a Title agent, and can demonstrate that you have completed the required continuing legal education (CLE), you need only complete 3 credit hours of courses approved by the Pennsylvania Insurance Department for each 24-month license period.

Special Training/Education Requirements (LTC, Flood, Ethics, others)
Flood Insurance Training
- An insurance producer who sells flood insurance may satisfy the minimum training and education requirements by completing a course related to the NFIP, which may be approved for 3 hours of continuing education credit by the Pennsylvania Insurance Department.

Annuity Training
- Newly Licensed Producer
- If you are a new producer who will be selling annuities in Pennsylvania, you need to take the new 4 credit training course that meets the Best Interest standard requirements. This training course must be taken on or before the end of the insurance producer's next complete license period occurring on or after June 20, 2022.
- Licensed Producer
- A licensed producer who has completed an annuity training under the prior annuity law (Suitability Standard or Act 48) must complete by December 20, 2022, either:
- A new 4 credit training course that meets the new annuity requirements and is approved by the Department and offered by an approved education provider or;
- A one-time 1 credit training course that covers the new annuity requirements and is approved by the Department and offered by an approved education provider.

Long Term Care/Partnership Training
- Resident
- An insurance producer, licensed as of April 1, 2011:
- Who has not yet completed an 8-hour training course on long-term care insurance shall complete at least 8 hours of training by April 1, 2012.
- That sells, solicits or negotiates long-term care partnership policies shall complete, as part of the 8-hour requirement, a 1-hour course related to the Medical Assistance Program (Medicaid) prior to engaging in any marketing activity of partnership policies.
- The ongoing training requirement shall be at least 4 hours in every subsequent 24 month licensing cycle.
- If a producer completed an approved 8 hour LTC/LTCP course prior to April 1, 2011, as long as the course was categorized as an LTC/LTCP course at the time of completion, the completed course will satisfy the initial training requirement.
- Non-Resident
- If the home state accepts the training completed by their resident producer in another state and that producer is licensed as a non-resident producer in PA, then PA will accept the training.

- Insurance Producers who were licensed prior to January 1, 1971, and have been continuously licensed without adding any additional lines of authority*
- Insurance Producers whose only line of authority on their license is Domestic Mutual Fire (Restricted Property)*
- Motor vehicle physical damage appraisers
- Surplus lines agents or members
- Reinsurance intermediary brokers or managers
- Exclusive general agents, and managers
- Insurance Producers whose only line of authority on their license is Fraternal (Restricted)
- The holder of a license whose only line of authority is a limited line
- Firm, institution, partnership, corporation or an association
- A non-resident Insurance Producer (excludes Title agents)
* An individual requesting an exemption under this section shall apply to the Commissioner in writing

Certificate of Completion
To get your certificate of completion, log in to our website using your username and password. Then, look at the menu on the left and find "Course History." Your course history will list the courses you passed or failed. If you passed a course, you'll see a "Print certificate" button on the right, allowing you to print your certificate for your records.

How are Hours Reported
We report your credits through Sircon, a state-approved third party vendor, within one business day (except holidays, reporting will be done on next business day). The department receives the credits from Sircon and recognizes the date you passed/completed the exam as the date of completion. It is not based upon the day we report the hours to them.

Course Repetition
- If you take a course more than once in the same license period, you will get credit only once. Duplicated credits may not be carried forward.
- Courses may be repeated in different license periods for credit.
