Required CE Hours for Renewal
Life, Health, Property, Casualty, Personal Lines, Surplus Lines, or Variable Life
- Requires 24 hours of CE credit. Of these:
- At least 3 hours must be professional ethics
- At least 3 hours must be on Oregon statutes and administrative rules, including recent changes
- No more than 4 hours is allowed for approved agency management courses
- Not more than 8 hours CE credit will be given in any one day
Adjuster
- Requires 24 hours of CE credit. Of these:
- At least 3 hours must be professional ethics
- Resident
- At least 3 hours must be on Oregon statutes and administrative rules, including recent changes
- Non-Resident
- You must have completed at least 3 hours of Law in your resident state which is similar to the Oregon requirement, or take a 3 hour Oregon Law course.
- CE taken for a producer license counts toward adjuster CE credits
- If you have completed Adjuster CE in another state, it can count towards the Oregon requirement
- If you select providers/courses approved for OR as well as your resident state, your credit will be uploaded in to your transcript with Oregon
- If your CE is not uploaded to Oregon, you will have to send your CE certificates at time of renewal. (Do not send until you have completed the full 24 hours of CE)
- If your resident state only requires 18 hours of CE for example, you will need to complete the additional needed to meet the Oregon requirement of 24 hours

Special Training/Education Requirements (LTC, Flood, Ethics, others)
Long Term Care Training
- Agents must complete a one-time, 8-hour training course before selling long-term care insurance.
- 4 hours of ongoing training must be completed every two years after taking the initial 8-hour course.

Flood Insurance Training
- Each producer must complete a one-time, 3-hour course about the federal flood insurance program.
- In addition, there are ongoing continuing education requirements each renewal cycle for any Oregon resident producer that sells, solicits or negotiates flood insurance. Beginning with any license that expires on August 31, 2020 or later, the producer must complete 2 hours of continuing education on state and federal laws related to flood insurance, the National Flood Insurance Program or private flood insurance.

Annuity Training
- Any producer who sells annuity products must complete a one-time, 4-credit course provided by a continuing education provider registered with the Division of Financial Regulation.

- 2-year renewal cycle.
- A license issued to an individual insurance agent expires biennially in the month of the individual's birthday anniversary.

Final Exam
- Non-monitored final exam.
- Final exams are open-book. You may refer to the course material as often as you need to complete the exam.
- A passing grade of at least 70% required to complete the course.

Certificate of Completion
To get your certificate of completion, log in to our website using your username and password. Then, look at the menu on the left and find "Course History." Your course history will list the courses you passed or failed. If you passed a course, you'll see a "Print certificate" button on the right, allowing you to print your certificate for your records.

How are Hours Reported
We report your credits through SBS, a state-approved third party vendor, within one business day (except holidays, reporting will be done on next business day). The department receives the credits from SBS and recognizes the date you passed/completed the exam as the date of completion. It is not based upon the day we report the hours to them.

Credit may be taken by an insurance producer with respect to a course only once in each renewal period.
