Required CE Hours for Renewal
Producers
- Shall successfully complete in each renewal period at least 24 hours of CEs. CE courses must be in the category or subdivision of insurance on the license.
Life and Health
- 24 hours = 21 Life/Health + 3 Ethics
- Insurance producers who, as of October 1, 2008, held licenses for 25 or more consecutive years must successfully complete 8 hours of continuing education in each renewal period and must obtain at least 3 hours of continuing education in Ethics.
Property and Casualty
- 24 hours = 21 Property/Casualty + 3 Ethics

- Title only
- 16 hours = 13 Title + 3 Ethics
- Combined Title and P/C
- 24 hours = 6 Title + 6 P/C + 9 (Title or P/C) + 3 Ethics
- Combined Title and L/H
- 24 hours = 6 Title + 6 L/H + 9 (Title or L/H) + 3 Ethics
- Combined Title, L/H and P/C
- 24 hours = 6 Title + 6 L/H + 6 P/C + 3 (Title, L/H or P/C) + 3 Ethics
Funeral Director (Life only)

- Public Adjuster
- 24 hours = 21 Public Adjuster + 3 Ethics

Exemptions
- Title Only plus Maryland Attorney
- A licensee who holds only the Title line of insurance and is a Maryland attorney (admitted to practice before the Maryland Court of Appeals) is exempt from continuing education. CEs required on additional lines of authority on the license.
- Non-Resident
- Non-resident licensees do not need to complete MD CE.
- Limited Lines
- Limited lines licenses do not require CEs.
- Licensees Aged 70
- CEs waived for Aged 70 as of April 30, 2013.
- Licensee Countinously Active for 25 Years
- CE hours reduced to 8 hours for 25 years continuously active license as of October 1, 2008.

Final Exam
- The student must review the text in its entirety prior to being granted access to the exam.
- The student may NOT be allowed to view the text material while completing the exam.
- Receive a passing grade of 70 percent or greater on the examination.
- Final exams are not required for webinars.

Certificate of Completion
To get your certificate of completion, log in to our website using your username and password. Then, look at the menu on the left and find "Course History." Your course history will list the courses you passed or failed. If you passed a course, you'll see a "Print certificate" button on the right, allowing you to print your certificate for your records.

How are Hours Reported
We report your credits through Sircon, a state-approved third party vendor, within one business day (except holidays, reporting will be done on next business day). The department receives the credits from Sircon and recognizes the date you passed/completed the exam as the date of completion. It is not based upon the day we report the hours to them.
